Tech Article 12/9

Many people, probably just like you don't go on just to do reports or research. Most people now go on just to pass time. A recent poll says that 53% of people ages 18-29 go on line for no reason at all. There were 2260 people who took the poll. This shows that the internet is becoming a big factor in everyday life. Now the internet is a big competitor to other activities too do in your free time.

Black friday wasn't the only big shopping day to save money. This year's Cyber Monday was bigger than before. It was recorded one of the biggest shopping says in U.S history. There was a spending of 1.25 billion dollars during this day. It went up 22% from last year. Since the holidays are getting closer and everyone is buying their gifts, during the month of November online shopping hit a record of $15 billion in all. Tech Article 11/18

On Wednesday this past week I bet a lot of tumblr users were a bit scared of what was happening on their dashboard. First there was a link that said what was going on. That there was a law that was being discussed about censorship. This law is to have less chance of something being posted with out copyright. A lot of people take pictures as their own and it's unfair to the people that worked hard on making the post. In order to get their word around they censored your dashboard. But unlike a few people, once i refreshed the page it was back to normal. Tumblr as of right now is back to normal with no changes.

My weekend and reflection on the 1st marking period

Over the weekend I hung out with my friends around town. Wednesday night I went to the WR .vs. HH freshman game. We lost unfortunately (but i knew we were). On Saturday night I went to the movies to see the new movie Jack and Jill. It was really funny and my friends and i loved it. On Sunday i didn't do much. Towards the end of the day I hung out with friends. It was a fun weekend even though i didn't go or do much.

MP1 reflection: This marking period i did pretty good i think. In this class the last time i checked i had an A- which is great! In the beginning I had a B- and i didn't like that especially  in the first 2 weeks of school but i brought it up a while letter grade. I learned how to use a Gmail account and it helped so much because we use it a lot. I was used to printing papers out but now its all through the internet and this class really helps.

Remember when Google, Yahoo and other websites wanted to buy Facebook? Well those days are over. Facebook is now too big to buy. The website can still be bought for about 15 billion dollars. In july there were over 500 million active users on Facebook. In my opinion i think facebook should stay the way it is and not be owned by any other website.

Since the new Iphone Siri has launched the same question has been asked more than a few times. The question is "Why is the voice, a female?" The answer is because a female voice is easier to find that speaks clear and everyone likes verse a male's voice. This probably is because navigators in WW2 were female and telephone operators were female. The new iphone 4s has sold more than twice the amount they sold last year with the original iphone 4. Last year Apple sold 1.7 million phones across the U.S, France, Germany, Japan, and the U.K. But this year since it's debut, Apple has sold over 4 million iphone 4s'. Also they included selling this phone in Canada and Australia. Even though the phone wasn't what it was suppose to be it still turned out to be a big hit.

Mobile gadgets (cell phones, pagers, etc.) have affected us a lot over the past 10-15 years. They have changed from looks to how we use them in our everyday lives. For instance, making plans with people have become a lot easier. There really isn't a possible way to be bored. With all the apps out there with cell phones, you can play 1000's of games!!! Also you can always be talking to someone weather its texting or just talking on the phone.But to all this great stuff of having a cell phone also come down sides. Now if you have a cell phone and it dies, what are you going to do? It's necessary to our lives now to have a cell phone now. Most people are lost without it. Also you are able to catch anything funny, exciting, etc.with the built in camera that most cell phones to take pictures. Tech Article 10/6

The major buzz that has been going on for the past month about the new iphone 5 was kind of a rip off. First off, it's not even called the iphone 5... it's the iphone 4s. There were only a few changes. For instance, there is a faster processor now that they use in the ipad 2. There's an 8-megapixel camera built in. But the iphone disappointment isn't the only thing Apple has to worry about because now Amazon released their new Kindle Fire tablet for the competition. For the whole story click here!!

Weekend of 10/1

To start off the weekend i had a surprise party with all my friends. It was fun but my mom got mad. Since some kids thought it was funny to throw chocolate cake at each other we ended up with a big mess. But overall it was really fun. On Saturday we went to P.A to go to Chocolate World in Hershey. It was really fun! Then Sunday we went to the Park but it was so cold we left early. It was a fun weekend.

There are rumors spreading form Apple that they may discontinue the more outdated versions of ipods to make way for the newer versions. In my opinion i think it's a good idea because when a newer version comes out more people will buy that anyways. Like the old saying out with the old and in with the new.

Weekend 9/24-9/25

My weekend started off okay. I went to the Hights .vs. Wood-ridge game on Friday and Wood-Ridge lost :(. On Saturday I just walked around with friends that i haven't seen in a while. That day was boring. But Sunday I found out my family and I are going to Hershey Park!!!! I go every year but this time around we are staying at a fancy hotel called the Hershey Lodge. I am really excited to go this year. I can't wait!!!

Tech article for 9/23

The Kindle is taking their product to a whole new level. They are releasing more kindle books to more then 1100 libraries around the country. About 67% of libraries have e-book access. this went up 12%. They are not currently in libraries because they haven't found a business model that they feel comfortable with yet. This change is being made to compete with the nooks, Sony readers, etc.

What I think about Fall

When I think of Fall I think of Halloween. But to me Halloween isn't just a holiday, it's my birthday. Having my birthday on Halloween is so much fun because I can hang out with my friends all day and just walk around. I can see everyone from around town. It's also the most beautiful time of year because the leaves are just changing color, it's not too hot or too cold. The weather is perfect! Just hearing the scary music and seeing all the houses spooky.. I love it!

First Post!!!

Hi I'm Amanda, I'm 14 years old and a freshman. My birthday is October 31st and I have a mom dad and 2 older brothers. This is my first time going to WR and i went to my old school for 10 years and it's a BIG change. I did recreation cheerleading in WR for 8 years. I dont play any sports but i dont mind watching them. I like to walk around my town and hang out with my friends. I can't wait to see what this year will bring and I hope its a great year!!
