The popular app snapchat is known for it's ability to let people "snap" a picture and the picture/video will be gone after a certain time that was sent by the sender. Creators of the app have promised the photo/video will be erased forever after the time was up. To the common user the promise and app seemed simple and reliable. FTC has recently put charges on the app for deceiving users into thinking photos were permanently erased. It seemed simple but anyone can access the photos if they want. Videos can be reappear once your phone is plugged into a computer and pictures can be snapshotted onto any smartphone. Also, the app has been used by the company to track an android user and download an iphone user's entire contact list. On thursday, snapchat has settled charges and updated their privacy policy to be more honest with users.

The article was interesting. It made me think of what kind of person I am on the internet. It makes you rethink about what you post on the internet because you never know who is reading it. It can affect you and your decisions in the future.Also even if an account is privite, it still doesn't mean it is fully protected. The article makes you more aware of what you post online

After 2 years of a possible Amazon phone coming out, it seems close to having its debut. No one has 100% knew if this phone would actually exist. The phone will come out in June and hopefully be on sale by September. Features of the phone will include a camera that will create 3D like pictures. Amazon hope this will be a success like their Kindle. Pictures of the modeled phone should be released soon.

Computers and phones keep getting smaller and thinner but printers not so much. Jerusalem College of Technology created an idea that involves a palm sized printer. This would work by sitting the "Pocket Printer" on top of the paper and it would roll around using jetink technology to create the words on the paper. Each Pocket Printer would hold and ink cartridge that will produce 1,000 pages and run on a battery. They hope to raise $400,000 to actually create this idea.

Google Chrome has now pasted Firefox in most used web browser. Chrome is now in 2nd place for most used web browser. With 17.5% out of the whole desktop browser traffic, while firefox has 17.2%. Still in first is Internet Explorer with 57.96%. Chrome has always been the competitor for firefox. Chrome did not just rise above firefox, it has hit some bumps in the road such as its fall in mid 2013. Chrome is slowly starting to take over desktop browser traffic.

The Iphone 6 will be arriving as soon as september according to Japan's largest publication Nikkei. The new phone will have a 4.7 inch screen. But another size of the new iphone 6 may or may not come out. If the second size becomes available it will be a 5.7 inch screen. The newest iphone (5S) out now is 4 inches. Reasons reports are now saying September is because a battery suppliers have received orders from apple for future iphone production. Only news that came about about the actual content of the iphone 6 is that the resolution will be higher than the 5S.

United Airlines is now launching a new way to watch movies during flights. As announced in February, United Airlines is adding a new way option to watching tv. Passengers will now be able to stream tv shows from their laptops, ipads, or iphones for free! This new option should drop in April. They will start off with downloading about 150 movies and 200 tv shows. Anyone with and Apple device with an ios 6 or higher or a laptop will be able to stream directly from the server on the flight and no one will have to pay for wifi.

Samsung has dropped 2 new smart watches; the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo. The watches have a 2-3 day battery life as opposed to the older version Galaxy Gear which only has a one day battery life. The watches will have notifications from your smartphone (emails, text messages, etc.) pop up on the screen. The watches are part of a new category of electronics called wearable computers. The main reason why Samsung is experimenting with the watches is so they can beat Apple which is their biggest competition.

How to solve common smartphone problems

1) Battery Life

• Android- enable location services to "battery saving" in settings
• anytime you take a picture on your phone, it tries to track your exact location, this makes your battery die quicker
• Iphone- disable automatic updates and uncheck anything you would not search in "spotlight Search"

2) Breaking the phone/ screen

• phone case
• this option is not for everybody because everyone does not like the heavy case on their phone
• place a glass shield over the screen
• this will absorb any oncoming impact
• amazon or ebay

3) Blurry Photos

• Don't use flash
• It's just an LED light that washes out colors
• Try not to zoom in on your photos
• get as close as you can.

Phones have come a long way in the past few years alone. One thing that many smart phone users are still continuing to complain about is the poor front camera quality. Things that involve the poor quality include the picture being pixilated, grainy, unfocused, dark, and some may even be distorted. Another problem may not even involve the front camera at all. The size of the smart phone can be a factor of the poor quality as well. People complain that the phone is bulky and it is hard to keep the phone steady. The iphone 5s has one of the best front camera but still has poor quality compared to ones that may be sold in India. The reason the process for coming out with a better front camera and "Selfie Friendly" phone is because it might be costly. Hopefully by a new line of phones will be introduced by as soon as the end of this month.

Since the new year Time Warner Cable users have been living without a major sports channel, MSG. Without MSG New York Ranger, Islanders and New Jersey Devil fans won't be able to watch them play. As well as Knicks fans.Fans can't see the New York Rangers playing strong, who are now are holding the best record in NHL.But MSG isn't going down without a fight. They are Putting up adds on computers and commercials on TV   to advertise to go to DirectTV, RCN, or Fios. But some lucky fans get to go to special viewing parties to seethe games that MSG are holding. Now it's up to Time Warner to make a deal with them.

Everyone has heard about the 3-D TVs but who really buys them? So far 23 million of them were shipped worldwide. In that number 3.5 million were in the U.S. Besides the high prices of the TVs there are other affects to having this too. For one thing people say the TV doesn't display the 3-D affect properly and doesn't feel 3-D. Also you may feel uncomfortable watching it as in headaches. But one big reason is the people are let down to many times. The 3-D TV is always getting improved but not to the viewers expectations. Organization

When I am working on certain projects or papers on Google docs, I don't organize well. I save it was a title that I know will be the paper I'm looking for. But with the computer I have at home I have multiple folders. I have one for school, pictures, videos, facebook, and tumblr. Within those folders I have folders inside them. For school I have all the different subjects. Pictures I label the date they were taken, facebook and tumblr I have folders what i need to put on and old photos. I think my organization is nonhierarchical system because no picture or paper is better than another.

-Social bookmarking is a way to manage your favorites/ bookmarks to make it easier to find a page you like.
-Tagging- is labeling it.
-This changed the way we use the web because instead of searching or writing the website you like every time you want to read anything, it can be accessible to with a click of a button.

A recent poll says that 53% of people ages 18-29 go on line for no reason at all. There were 2260 people who took the poll. This shows that the internet is becoming a big factor in everyday life. Now the internet is a big competitor to other activities too do in your free time.

Black friday wasn't the only big shopping day to save money. This year's Cyber Monday was bigger than before. It was recorded one of the biggest shopping says in U.S history. There was a spending of 1.25 billion dollars during this day. It went up 22% from last year. Since the holidays are getting closer and everyone is buying their gifts, during the month of November online shopping hit a record of $15 billion in all. On Wednesday this past week I bet a lot of tumblr users were a bit scared of what was happening on their dashboard. First there was a link that said what was going on. That there was a law that was being discussed about censorship. This law is to have less chance of something being posted with out copyright. A lot of people take pictures as their own and it's unfair to the people that worked hard on making the post. In order to get their word around they censored your dashboard. But unlike a few people, once i refreshed the page it was back to normal. Tumblr as of right now is back to normal with no changes.

My weekend and reflection on the 1st marking period

Over the weekend I hung out with my friends around town. Wednesday night I went to the WR .vs. HH freshman game. We lost unfortunately (but i knew we were). On Saturday night I went to the movies to see the new movie Jack and Jill. It was really funny and my friends and i loved it. On Sunday i didn't do much. Towards the end of the day I hung out with friends. It was a fun weekend even though i didn't go or do much.

MP1 reflection: This marking period i did pretty good i think. In this class the last time i checked i had an A- which is great! In the beginning I had a B- and i didn't like that especially  in the first 2 weeks of school but i brought it up a while letter grade. I learned how to use a Gmail account and it helped so much because we use it a lot. I was used to printing papers out but now its all through the internet and this class really helps.
