The popular app snapchat is known for it's ability to let people "snap" a picture and the picture/video will be gone after a certain time that was sent by the sender. Creators of the app have promised the photo/video will be erased forever after the time was up. To the common user the promise and app seemed simple and reliable. FTC has recently put charges on the app for deceiving users into thinking photos were permanently erased. It seemed simple but anyone can access the photos if they want. Videos can be reappear once your phone is plugged into a computer and pictures can be snapshotted onto any smartphone. Also, the app has been used by the company to track an android user and download an iphone user's entire contact list. On thursday, snapchat has settled charges and updated their privacy policy to be more honest with users.
